What a rad combo, a divine smoothie plus a cosy Josh Goot bomber on a fresh day.

What inspired me to do this post was I was at walking down the street the other day and an old lady stopped me and said ‘your Jacket is such a beautiful display of art and colours’. I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face! Such an amazing gesture from sweet old lady sharing with me the appreciation of art in any form.

    02Jun2013_0167-WEB

The lovely old lady didn’t have a clue about Josh Goot or the latest fashion, she just appreciated the artwork that was in it.  I feel that is how more people need to look at food and fashion, we don’t really see the history or appreciate the effort that has gone into it, we didn’t think about what farmer who nurtured this fruit for months and protected it like it was there own or what factory did this packaged food came from, or the designer who spent months getting inspiration and putting their creative vision into a piece. Most of the time there is no thought process we tend to take things for granted and don’t see the true beauty. This bomber may be a few seasons old but its a classic piece that will never age.

I feel when we become grounded and appreciative of our surroundings the beauty of things in life we tend to see more as we become curious

Sometimes people say to me ‘if you are so down to earth then why do you like such material things?’ (meaning designer clothing), and my reply is that I don’t buy something from a certain designer because of the name. I buy it because I love the art form and I appreciate the design history that has gone into it.

Being a creative person I understand the process of art, in any form.

So I wanted to share with you a smoothie recipe made with Antioxidant rich fruits such as dragon fruit, bananas, strawberries and aloe Vera. To give your skin a boost and something bright to allure you in with the display of colours this smoothie has.

When it comes to caring for your skin, antioxidants can help to protect your skin from the damaging effects of the sun. Unlike sunscreens and moisturizers, antioxidants can protect your skin from the inside out by guarding your cells from damage. Vitamins A, C and E and the mineral selenium are thought to be particularly helpful in skin care. In addition to helping fortify cells against free radicals, vitamins A and C also encourage cell and tissue growth, helping the body to repair itself. This is very helpful to the skin, which is constantly shedding and regrowing cells. For this reason, any antioxidants that protect cells and encourage cell growth is helpful in an anti-aging.

    BOMBER JACKET BY JOSH GOOT

  • RAW ‘CHERRYBERRY’ CHOC BARS

    CHOCOLATE2-WEB

These were so delicious, like I am talking I ate all of them in a very sort period of time delicious. No I did actually share them with my boyfriend who loved them to!

To be honest I really don’t eat or crave chocolate that much but I do like making my own and it was fun to, and I also wanted to create a recipe that you can make to replace that disgusting milk chocolate habit you probably have (even if its a secret I know you have it ha-ha). :)

At least with this chocolate recipe you can take the time to make it yourself and appreciate it for all its glory! And no need to feel guilty about it either!

    WHAT YOU WILL NEED

    For ze chocolate

    ▪ 100g Raw Cacao Butter

    ▪ 6 Tablespoons Raw Cacao Powder

    ▪ 1 table spoon virgin organic coconut oil

    ▪ 2-3 Tablespoons coconut sugar (or agave or raw honey which ever you prefer)

    For ze filling

    ▪ 1/3 cup Desiccated Coconut (raw and organic)

    ▪ 1 tablespoon cup Raw Organic Coconut Oil

    ▪ 1tbsp raw Coconut Sugar (or sweetener of choice)

    ▪ 1tsp Vanilla extract, or beans from 1 Vanilla pod

    ▪ Approx 10 fresh cherries, pitted and 6 or so fresh strawberries

    WHAT TO DO

On very low heat, place the cacao butter and coconut oil in a bowl over a pan of water and melt gently (if you have a dehydrator you can use this instead).
Once melted add raw cacao powder and mix well using a whisk (you can mix with a spoon, but whisk will ensure a smooth chocolate).
Still on a very low heat, add the sweetener, taste, and add more if you prefer a sweeter taste.

    FOR THE FILLING

Mix the entire filling ingredients together in a blender, and blend quickly so there is still texture left in the mix, place you mixture into a square container lined with baking paper. Pack it in tight and flat and place in the freezer for 1 hour or so. Take mixture out of freezer and pull out with sides of baking paper and cut into bars then dip into chocolate mix (may have to do this 2-3 times to get a thick coating!) place in fridge to set.

Then you can even have then for breakfast!

  • RAW BANANA PANCAKES

    bananapancakes-WEB

YUM, I am drooling while writing this post because all I can see is the pancakes.. distracting..RAW HEALTHY pancakes….

I am in a library at the moment because my Internet is poo at home and I really wanted to start posting recipes for you guys!

    BANANA PANCAKES

    Makes approx 6 pancakes

    ▪ 1 cup organic rolled oats or steel cut oats

    ▪ 3 organic ripe bananas, frozen or fresh

    ▪ Organic shredded coconut (optional)

    ▪ Filtered water

To make pancakes – soak oats in filtered water for at least 30 minutes to 1hr. Steel cut oats will need a few hours. Blend oats and 2 bananas in a blender until smooth. If its not runny enough add a small amount of water to get desired consistency. If you have a dehydrator pour your mixture on you teflex sheets (or baking paper) in circles as if you were pouring normal pancakes into a pan. Dehydrate on 90 -105F  for at least 2 hours depending on how runny your pancakes are and also if you like them soft and gooey inside or more dry. I like to put my in before I go to yoga in the mornings and I come back a few hours later and they are perfect! You can also do this in you oven on the lowest setting. but make sure it is the LOWEST setting!

    Blueberry sauce

    ▪ Organic frozen Blueberries

    ▪ Strawberries if you have them or any other berries.

    ▪ Just blend then together and viola there is your sauce!

Then just add your sliced bananas and blueberries on top!

So good, think I may just make a batch when I get home ready for the morning!

    xx
